La Nazionale Italiana
IT: A volte si sente dire: “non è davvero la Nazionale, perché molti sono nati all’estero”. La realtà è più semplice e più corretta: la selezione segue i regolamenti ICC. Alcuni giocatori sono nati in paesi crickettistici (Australia, Sudafrica, Inghilterra) e vivono all’estero, ma sono cittadini italiani e quindi eleggibili. Altri hanno imparato il cricket in Pakistan, India o Sri Lanka, ma vivono stabilmente in Italia con le loro famiglie e giocano ogni stagione sui campi italiani.
EN: You may hear: “it’s not a real national team because many were born abroad.” In practice, selection follows ICC eligibility regulations. Some players were born in major cricket nations (Australia, South Africa, England) and live abroad, but they are Italian citizens and therefore eligible. Others learned the game in countries like Pakistan, India or Sri Lanka, but are long-term residents in Italy and play week-in, week-out in the Italian domestic structure.
